Project Port.EMS

Project Title: Convergent IT-OT Energy Management System (EMS) for the Transition of Port Communities into Smart Low-Carbon Energy Hubs

Funding Source: Integrated Territorial Program for the Financial Period 2021–2027

Project code: IP.1.1.03.0070

Project summary:

PortEMS is a multidisciplinary project combining excellence in energy system management and information technologies to achieve optimal operation of multiple interrelated energy systems in port communities, facilitating their transition to low-carbon energy hubs. The project focuses on the following key objectives:

  • Development of a smart, centralized optimal management system for multiple horizontally connected energy systems – EMS.Integrator.
  • Integration of advanced IT functionalities into traditional OT platforms.
  • Enhanced observability and controllability of multiple energy systems through advanced methods, data collection, and processing, supported by secure data-sharing infrastructure.
  • Development of strategies for optimal management of interconnected energy systems.

Project goals:

The primary goal of the project is to develop three products aimed at energy optimization in port communities to reduce carbon emissions. These products will be based on the interaction of multiple energy systems, their models and characteristics, advanced management and optimization algorithms, and data linking across multiple spatial and temporal scales.

The project will deliver the following outcomes:

  • A unique software solution for collecting, processing, archiving, and sharing data from various energy management systems (EMS).
  • An adaptive algorithms for optimal energy management.
  • An integrated and comprehensive energy management solution for port communities – EMS.Integrator.

Project Implementation Period is from November 1, 2024, to October 31, 2027.
